NOMADIC DAYDREAMS
On View January 12-March 16,2024
Seeking the essence of nature and the profound effect it has on the human psyche, the five artists featured in NOMADIC DAYDREAMS use two dimensional mediums to explore emotional and physical landscapes. Through oil, photography, drawing and acrylic, the featured artists weave together a complex relationship between humans and nature, employing the tension between hope and truth. We invite you to wander through the exploration of color, line, and texture, revealing the balance between the reality of our world and what we dream it to be.
This group exhibition features the work of Bonny Lhotka, George Kozmon, Derrick Breidenthal, Ben Strawn, and Angela Beloian.

A daydream is a fantasy you have while you are awake, distracting you from what’s going on around you. BONNY LHOTKA translates her daydreams of earth into 3D animated lenticular wall sculpture. Through photography printed on multi-layered acrylic, Lhotka invites the viewer into magical distorted world fractured light and glimmers of water and ice.
DERRICK BREIDENTHAL uses color and landscape as a universal entry point to discuss broader concerns and observations we share as humans. Breidenthal is interested in using his art to promote positive discourse rather than divisive dialogue. This series of large scale landscapes emphasizes our shared perspective and places the viewer squarely in front of the vast land we collectively need to preserve.
Landscapes affect us physically, chemically, and psychologically; they resonate with genetically encoded instincts of which we are not conscious. GEORGE KOZMON’S deeply rooted fascination with nature derives from his formative years running around the dramatic hillsides and mountain ranges of Switzerland. This new series includes locations of recent travels to California, Switzerland, and Colorado, webbing digital and organic terrains together.
BEN STRAWN’S abstract paintings serve as portals to boundless realms, where the flat plane becomes a canvas for infinite possibilities. Through vibrant hues and dynamic lines, he constructs a narrative that unfolds across horizons, transcends time, and evokes a spectrum of emotions. Strawn’s work immerses the audience in a world of abstract expression, encouraging contemplation of the connections between perception, emotion, and imagination.
Reflecting on climate change and the ways in which nature adapts, ANGELA BELOIAN creates paintings inspired by the symbiotic relationship between pollinators and the environment. She paints imagined birds and insects in silhouette, revealing an absence or extinction or suggesting a lifeform that has yet to evolve. Each painting is a single portrait, a celebration of a life humans are included to overlook. When shown together, they tell the larger story of the multiple voices encompassing Life.
