Sabin Aell: The Light of Experience
In my new work I use rubber, tar and leather. I combine it with prints on plexiglass. I like to play with the contrast of the black and rough industrial material opposing organic shapes, with floral abstract patterns.
Working the combination of rubber and leather I found very inspiring. Asphalt is from natural deposits formed from microscopic algae and other once-living things. Bringing materials together which have inherently nothing to do with each other, is what I enjoy. As an EFT coach I see it all the time that within the emotional costume of clients, apparently unrelated things are very much feeding off each other.
In this work I play with shades of black juxtaposed with vibrant botanical patterns. Light makes matter visible and gives objects color. What emotions and associations arise when someone looks at the work are subject to the viewer's life experience. With this work I intend to connect consciously to our collective pool of minds and let all the energetic information (questions and answers) flow into the creation. Ideally whoever is exposed to the work will be inspired to find a solution to their most pressing issue at the time.
