M Vlasic 'Altered' | Mark Castator
Quim Bove | Frank O'Neill | Danny Williams

M Vlasic’s exhibit “Altered” is an oil-painting exploration of tattooed and pierced nudes. Vlasic’s hyper-realism paintings explore the quest for individuality using skin as the tool. By questioning the reasons and the stories behind the ink, Vlasic hopes to aid in telling the story of each individual and discover if the body truly does become enhanced in this process of self-realization. Evolving with a similar spontaneity and definition as Vlasic’s subjects, Castator’s sculptures start with one piece of steel, one focal point, that he builds upon until the final visual balance is complete. There is a repetitiveness and quickness as each segment of steel is placed, contributing to the overall movement of the work.
